Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
Stone Harbor, New Jersey
This wonderful family requested my design services for their multi-generational home at the Jersey shore. I couldn’t help but think of the song “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding when it came to this project, since a large dock with magnificent views lies behind the house, encouraging slow days meant to take it all in.
Their passion for boating and fishing dictated a lot of my design decisions, as well as the pride they have for their Armenian and British heritage.
Each bedroom was meant to be it’s own experience, and I drew inspiration from the members of the family that would occupy each room. I envision the youngest family members growing up and fondly recalling the times they were in their bunks looking up at the sea life on their ceiling.
